PAESTA Earth Science Week

Earth Science WeekOctober 9 - 15, 2016

Join the Pennsylvania Earth Science Teachers Association (PAESTA) as we put a Pennsylvania focus on this year's celebrations of Earth Science Week!  For 2016, the theme of Earth Science Week is Our Shared Geoheritage. Geoheritage is the collection of natural wonders, landforms, and resources that have formed over eons and come to this generation to manage, use, and conserve effectively. Geoheritage locations are valued for many reasons, including scientific, economic, ecological, educational, cultural, aesthetic, artistic, and recreational purposes.

Learn more about Earth Science Week and the organization behind this international effort, the American Geosciences Institute (AGI).  Each day of Earth Science Week has a different focus, and we have collected resources and ideas for how you can address each of these topics with your students.

We need invovlement from EVERYONE in Pennsylvania to really make a difference and promote the importance of Earth science teaching and learning.  Check out what you can do before Earth Science Week to prepare!  Higher education faculty and professional geologists, we are looking for guest speakers to connect with classrooms via Skype/Google Hangout.  Librarians, we have some ideas for you!  Museums and other informal education centers, learn how you can contribute!

We have several ways you can be involved!  Contact us with your ideas, your desire to participate, and let us know what you have planned and share the success of your events!
