2016 AGI/ExxonMobil Teacher Leadership Academy
Deadline: March 1, 2016
Announcing the eighth annual American Geosciences Institute (AGI)/ExxonMobil Exploration Teacher Leadership Academies. Each year these week-long academies, one for K-5 and one for Middle School, help to prepare a cadre of teachers to share key ideas in the geosciences with their colleagues, students, and others.
Funding from ExxonMobil and AGI cover academy-related costs for the teachers, including travel to Houston, meals, lodging, and materials. Participants have the opportunity to interact with their peers from other states, develop skills and knowledge for teaching Earth and space science, and develop plans for presenting effective teacher workshops.
AGI welcomes applicants from all parts of the United States and all types of school systems. While it is hoped that teachers will come as teams, so that they can work together when they return to their state/schools system, that is not required. It is intended that these teachers will have support from their school system to do presentations to colleagues (in their own school systems, at conferences, and so on) to help spread geoscience awareness to other teachers, in addition to their own students.
See the two attached files for more details.
Our first priority date for applicants is March 1st. We'll continue to accept applications until the academy is filled.
