On Thursday afternoon, December 1, PAESTA will be giving presentations and hosting a reception at the Pennsylvania Science Teachers Association Conference in Hershey, PA!
1:00PM The Myth(?) of the Super Moon
In this session we will investigate the Moon’s appearance in Earth’s sky using a kinesthetic demo and a software simulation. We will compare the results of these investigations with claims from March 2011 about the appearance of the “Super Moon”.
2:25PM Earth and Space Science Web-Based Resources for Pennsylvania Educators
The Pennsylvania Earth Science Teachers Association (PAESTA) is working to advance excel- lence in Earth and Space Science education. This session will feature web-based resources available on the PAESTA website (http://www.paesta.psu.edu) to teach Earth and Space Sci- ence content, from elementary grades through college.
3:30PM Scavenger Hunts with GPS and Google Earth
GPS and Google Earth are tools that can be used with students to increase geographic and geospatial literacy. Learn how your students can engage with GPS technology outdoors or through Google Earth for interdisciplinary challengers.
