I am pleased to announce that we are now accepting proposals for Presenters and Exhibitors at the 2016 Dive Deeper III Summit. Dive Deeper is the biennial youth water educators summit hosted by Penn State Extension. The Dive Deeper III Summit will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016 in Harrisburg, PA. Save the Date!

PRESENTER & EXHIBIT PROPOSALS ARE DUE NO LATER THAN MONDAY, FEBRUARY 29, 2016.

Dive Deeper Presenter Proposals:

We are seeking presenters for concurrent sessions that will be held throughout the day of the summit.

Concurrent Session Guidelines:

  • The focus of this conference is to strengthen the capacity of educators to teach youth about water, water ecosystems, aquatic life, and related topics.
  • Dive Deeper is attended by both formal and informal educators, academic researchers, water-related non-profit organizations, companies that focus on water, and government agencies.
  • The list below provides a focus for session topics, but all water-related proposals will be considered.
  • Concurrent sessions will be approximately 45-50 minutes long.
  • A team of peer reviewers will evaluate and rate all session proposals, final selection will be made by the Dive Deeper Steering Committee.
  • Notification of accepted proposals will be made by March 31, 2016.
  • Presenters are expected to register for the Dive Deeper Summit (registration will open in the spring and is expected to cost approximately $50/person.)

 

Session Topics for 2016:

  • New curriculum or teaching tools for youth water education
  • Urban water issues (drinking water, stormwater, wastewater, etc.)New techniques for water quality monitoring
  • Using technology to teach about water
  • Current Issues/Topics (mineral extraction, climate change, invasive species, emerging pollutants, land use) as they relate to water in the Mid-Atlantic Region
  • Teaching about water to diverse audiences
  • STEM Education with a water focus
  • Addressing science standards (NGSS and local) with water education

 

Dive Deeper Exhibit Proposals:

We are seeking exhibitors to display information at a limited number of spaces in our networking area at the summit.

Exhibit Guidelines:

  • The focus of this conference is to strengthen the capacity of educators to teach youth about water, water ecosystems, aquatic life, and related topics.
  • Dive Deeper is attended by both formal and informal educators, academic researchers, water-related non-profit organizations, companies that focus on water, and government agencies.
  • A team of peer reviewers will review all exhibit proposals, final selection will be made by the Dive Deeper Steering Committee.
  • Notification of accepted proposals will be made by March 31, 2016.
  • Exhibitors are expected to register a minimum of one person for the Dive Deeper Summit, and all additional persons planning to assist with the exhibit will also be expected to register. (Registration will open in the spring and is expected to cost approximately $50/person.) There is no additional charge for exhibitor space, which will be one 8ft table.
