Teacher Workshop -- GO BLUE: Creating a healthy water footprint

Tyler Arboretum

WHEN: January 17, 2015, 9:00 am  – 4:30 pm
WHERE: Tyler Arboretum, Media, PA (southeast PA)

Have you ever wondered how to green your school, but don’t know where to begin?  Do you want to save your school money?  Do you want to engage your students in active learning?  Do you want a healthier school?  Do you like free stuff?  Then this is the workshop for you!

PLT’s GreenSchools! program inspires students to take personal responsibility for improving the environment at their school, at home, and in their community. Students, teachers, and school staff members receive tools, training, and resources for student-led Green Teams to create healthier schools—and to save schools’ money!  During this training we will be introducing you to one of the GreenSchools! investigations  - Water.  The results of this investigation will inform school staff members and students about areas where they can make improvements to conserve water, such as fixing leaks and installing automatic water-efficient faucets.

Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) will be teaching all about watersheds and how to green your school.  Tyler Arboretum is also providing rain barrels for your school or organization.

Lunch will be provided as part of the workshop, and you will be provided an expense stipend after the workshop of $50 per attendee (up to 4 individuals from each school) to be used to cover expenses of attending the workshop (substitute fees, mileage, etc.) thanks to a grant from the 3M Corporations.

Act48 credits will be provided.
