Dear Teachers,
Would you like the opportunity to involve your students in an authentic research project? Would you like to earn WVU credit and a summer stipend for your participation? Would you like to use the largest telescope in the United States to search for exotic stars called pulsars? Have no fear, the Pulsar Search Collaboratory is here!
Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Astronomy in Chile Educator Ambassadors Program (ACEAP)
This program, in its fourth year, brings amateur astronomers, planetarium personnel, and astronomy educators to several U.S.-funded astronomy observatories in Chile. While there, ambassadors will receive behind-the-scenes tours of some of the world’s most productive and advanced telescopes, including in-depth information on their instruments and discoveries.
Dear friends of WiSci Files:

From AGI Public Relations, January 3, 2017 -- The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is pleased to announce that the theme of Earth Science Week 2017 is "Earth and Human Activity." This year's event, the 20th annual Earth Science Week celebration (Oct. 8-14), promotes awareness of what geoscience tells us about human interaction with the planet's natural systems and processes.
The registration deadline is February 3, 2017. Space is limited. Reservations will be made on a first come, first-served basis.
Excessive heat waves -- Intense rainfall -- Rising seas
Our climate is changing. Greenhouse gas emissions are accelerating. Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent.
The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency in partnership with Keystone Emergency Management Association, PA Department of Conservation & Natural Resources, PA Department of Education, American Red Cross, United Way of Pennsylvania, and the PA National Weather Service Offices are excited to announce the inaugural 2017 Weather Safety Awareness Poster and Video PSA contests!
In 2016, the PPFF launched an initiative to steward our state forests and parks called Stewards of Penn’s Woods. As part of that program, we have started to remove graffiti from our parks and forests. But we know we also need to educate the public on the impacts of graffiti if we are going to effectively conserve these lands for all to enjoy. Our PPFF poster and video contests are meant to raise student awareness about the importance of stewarding our state parks and forests.
